Verdant’s energy management thermostats combine smart occupancy sensors with patented software features to reduce energy consumption when rooms are unoccupied.
In terms of UX, one of the biggest challenges was to accommodate different user needs in one app, as the information they had access to varied a lot:
- maintenance users would know the conditions of the rooms;
- housekeepers would be able to know if a room was empty;
- hotel managers could infer how much they were saving with the Verdant technology.
One of the product highlights was a hotel search mechanism, which would suit properties ranging from large organizations, such as the Hilton Group (with 200 hotels) to small bed and breakfasts.
I replaced the pickers by a scrollable vertical navigation, which made the experience simpler and more cohesive.
