Intact Financial Corporation is the largest provider of property and casualty insurance in Canada. When I joined their Innovation Lab, I worked was responsible for the strategy of UBI 2.0, a telematics app that analyses driver’s behaviour to improve risk prediction.
Working closely with the Data Lab and Machine Learning Departments, our goal was not to penalize bad drivers, but to reward safe driving. The solutions were presented at Dig-in event in 2018, as we were pioneers with behaviour change strategies, including Distracted Driving prevention.
One highlight of my work was to provide users with support for them to understand the context in which their events/risks happened on their trips and how their performances compared to their peers. The solution was integrated for 3 different brands – Intact, Belairdirect and BNA.
